At a party, Kellie smoked marijuana that a man claimed was special, though she wasn't a regular smoker. She immediately felt faint and sick with legs turning to jelly, then collapsed after attempting to walk. She experienced a classic out-of-body experience, floating up against the ceiling like a balloon and softly bumping it. From this vantage point, she observed the scene below with muffled hearing, as if hands were cupped over her ears. She could see people's hair parts straight down the middle but couldn't see faces. A girl she didn't know was trying to help her and was very upset, saying "She's not breathing, somebody help her!" Kellie felt calm, peaceful, and grateful for the girl's caring, experiencing affection for her. She heard someone say "She's wet her pants" but felt unconcerned, only curious about what she could see. Suddenly, like suction, she was rapidly pulled back into her body with her hearing transitioning from muffled to normal during the return. She felt heavy and affected by gravity again. A friend helped her outside for air. She was worried that if she had died, she would have been trapped in the house forever like a ghost. She went home without telling anyone about the experience for about 20 years, maintaining that the experience remained more real to her than normal life.
