In April 2000, Ysel attempted suicide by overdose after promising her daughter she wouldn't do anything harmful. After emergency responders broke down her door, she experienced an out-of-body perspective, looking down at herself while firefighters and police worked to revive her. She observed and heard clearly as they questioned her neighbor who had called 911 after seeing her motionless through the bedroom window. She heard specific details about the emergency response and crucially overheard a female officer telling another they needed to call Child and Family Services to place her three children in foster care. This revelation triggered an immediate desperate desire to return to life, realizing her children had no one else and might not be safe without her. She felt the presence of someone behind her during the experience and initially felt profound peace. She found herself possibly traveling through a bright light with an unseen but strongly felt divine presence she believes was God. The experience was characterized by exceptional clarity of perception - she could hear and understand everything happening simultaneously despite the chaos. Upon returning to her body, she awoke in the hospital and later faced her daughter's heartbreak at the mental health facility. The experience transformed her life purpose, living now to honor the second chance God gave her.
