In 1979, Winona experienced clinical death during an extreme abuse situation where she stopped breathing and began convulsing. During this crisis, she encountered a presence on her right side that appeared as a light being who transformed into the likeness of Jesus. This figure looked into her eyes and touched her right cheek, immediately enabling her to breathe again and freeing her from pain and fear. Despite remaining in the traumatic situation, she felt connected to something infinitely larger than the abuse. The Jesus presence asked her to "see," and she witnessed herself in a future shamanic journey at age 40, standing in complete white light that was all-encompassing and fully loving. This light surrounded her completely, bright yet not harsh, emanating pure love. After the presence left, some of this loving energy remained with her, allowing her to endure the continued violence without fear. The perpetrator noticed she had lost his control over her and became more violent, but she maintained her connection to the divine love. This experience, combined with an earlier NDE at age 3 involving light beings, shaped her spiritual understanding that divine light and love are always present within all things, giving constantly for the purpose of life.
