In August 1988, Vikki was violently attacked and thrown across a room, landing on a metal rod and losing consciousness for approximately 30 minutes. During this time, she found herself in a state of total darkness with no physical sensations or connection to earth. Despite the darkness, she experienced profound happiness and contentment, knowing her identity but feeling completely detached from earthly concerns. She had no bodily form but was aware she could manifest hands if desired. Over the course of the experience, her senses gradually returned one at a time until she was back in her body experiencing severe pain. Throughout the experience, she maintained awareness of who she was but felt no emotional attachment to her physical life or even her mother who was present. The overwhelming feeling was one of wanting to remain in this peaceful state rather than return to physical existence. The experience fundamentally changed her perspective on death and consciousness, convincing her that awareness continues after physical death. She now lives without fear of dying, understanding from direct experience that consciousness exists independently of the body.
