In July 1971, 18-year-old John B was living alone in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, working as a musician. After selling marijuana and paying his supplier, he returned home around 2 AM. Hours later, before sunrise, he was awakened by loud knocking. A man he recognized demanded entry at gunpoint with four accomplices. They broke down the door, severely beat John with fists and gun butts, and tied him up with speaker wire. As they continued beating him while searching for money, John dissociated from the unbearable pain and left his body. He floated near the ceiling, observing his body lying in a pool of blood while one attacker continued hitting him with a rifle. Another stopped him, saying he had killed John. While they removed music equipment, John's senses faded until only awareness remained. He experienced being turned inside-out, then found himself in a tunnel of clouds with lightning flashes, moving toward a Light Being with amazing warmth and magnetism. He felt complete relief and a sense of finally being home as he merged with this Being. John regained consciousness tied up on the floor about 2.5 hours after the attack began. The Light Being continues to appear to him, especially when washing his hair, appearing with a radiant yellow onion-shaped core surrounded by violet-purple, bringing great comfort and psychic cleansing.
