Hailey stopped breathing after her breathing tube was removed following her third major spinal surgery to correct a failed fusion. The last thing she remembered was joking with the surgeon as medication took effect. She then vividly found herself looking around the recovery room, hearing medical staff saying "She's not breathing!" and "We're losing her!" A nurse patted her hand insisting "You've got to breathe for me, honey."
Realizing she was either dreaming or dead, Hailey felt the greatest sense of calm, peace, and love wash over her - greater than she thought possible. She then experienced being everywhere at once, seeing multiple simultaneous events. She observed her surgeon talking to her parents about the surgery, then receiving a call and running back saying "If I'm not back in five minutes, it's a good thing." She was then sucked back into her body like waking from a dream. Two weeks later at home, Hailey overheard her mother telling her grandmother that she had stopped breathing when the doctor was with them. This confirmed her experience was real. Her mother, who had her own NDE as a teenager, immediately recognized and understood what Hailey experienced when she shared it. The experience transformed Hailey from agnostic questioning to certainty about God's existence as a supreme energy of pure love and acceptance. She felt she had been to this realm before, experienced universal connection where everything is part of everything, and learned that earthly difficulties help spiritual growth. She no longer fears death and became greatly compassionate toward others.
