During her fifth surgery for severe nerve damage in her arms and hands, Shara experienced an anesthetic injection error - it was injected into her main artery instead of as a nerve block, causing an allergic reaction. She felt burning throughout her body and tried to scream but made no external sound. She floated around the operating room, looking closely at each staff member's face and feeling a heart connection with each, especially the terrified anesthesiologist working to revive her. She hovered over her surgeon's left shoulder until being pulled away through a pin-dot of light. She found herself in a vast space with countless pin-dots of light, moving toward a huge beacon of brilliant white light. A being communicated telepathically, showing her many things about love, creation, math, humanity, and music. She experienced music as a full sensory phenomenon - feeling, tasting, smelling, and seeing it with colors beyond earthly perception. The being told her she had to return. She went through a bright tunnel with falling luminous colors. The surgeon later confirmed feeling her presence over his left shoulder and revealed her heart and breathing had ceased for 2 minutes 17 seconds. Years later, living in a redwood forest cottage, she discovered she could reproduce the otherworldly sounds through her own voice during deep meditation.
