In December 1958, during winter school holidays, Fiveia went sledding alone at a large quarry with hills. Using her brother's heavy homemade metal sled shaped like a chair, she attempted to jump on a trampoline while sledding. She fell with her spine hitting the edge of the sled's back, causing excruciating pain throughout her body. Unable to cry out, only wheezing, she thought "I won't survive this pain" and began blacking out, believing she was dying. Suddenly she felt great improvement as her thoughts became distinctly clear. She was pulled upward toward a bright white light that was calming and pleasant rather than blinding. She found herself in a beautiful meadow, sitting on grass and playing with flowers. A small stream separated her area from another section where a 13-year-old girl sat holding a book, reading to four children. Fiveia somehow knew she had to wait there while her fate was decided. The girl told her to go back when voices called "Miss, Miss!" saying "they're disrupting us." When Fiveia said she'd tell them to stop bothering and return, the girl only smiled. Looking down from the meadow's edge, she saw herself lying in snow with arms spread wide, then immediately returned to her body. The experience had lasting effects - she later had seven more journeys to "that world," developed premonitory dreams, and experienced soul travel including once in an owl's body. She changed from atheist to Christian Protestant, believing God exists and that life's purpose is to do no evil for peace on earth.
