Fifty years before her 2015 account, Faith was a college freshman who went to the campus infirmary for a sore throat and earache. After receiving a penicillin injection, she immediately collapsed on the floor due to an anaphylactic reaction, having had a similar but less severe reaction the previous year. Upon collapsing, she saw the most brilliant light and encountered multiple spiritual beings including her deceased paternal grandfather, the Blessed Mother, Christ, and God. She then found herself on the ceiling observing a doctor and nurse pounding on her chest during resuscitation efforts. When she regained consciousness, the doctor angrily asked why she didn't tell them about her penicillin allergy. She was kept for observation before being released to her dormitory. Faith recognized immediately that something extraordinary had occurred but, being private by nature, told no one until visiting her parents on a weekend. She has always maintained absolute certainty that she went to heaven and returned. Her conviction was reinforced years later when she discovered books by Dr. Moody and learned others had similar experiences. The experience involved cardiac arrest from anaphylactic shock, and she describes it simply as going to heaven and back. Faith's account is notable for its clarity despite occurring five decades earlier, and for her immediate recognition of its spiritual significance even before NDEs became widely known.
