In January 2015, Erik went to bed normally but woke at 4 AM with severe diarrhea and vomiting. Feeling extremely weak, he had his wife take him to the emergency room. Upon arrival, he lost consciousness while lying on a hospital bed. He then found himself looking at his lifeless body from outside it. A brilliant white light appeared, brighter than the sun yet pure white. In this light, he encountered his deceased grandmother and uncle from the 1990s, along with three angels. Most significantly, he saw his son who had died at birth years earlier. The child placed a small hand on Erik's knee and said "Daddy, keep fighting." His uncle told him it wasn't his time yet while his grandmother smiled silently. When Erik tried to walk around them to reach the light, one angel placed its left hand on his shoulder, squeezing firmly, and he was pulled back into his body with a popping sensation. Upon returning, he called the nurse and recounted his experience. Medical staff determined he had been poisoned, likely with eye drops, and prepared resuscitation paddles as a precaution. Tests showed perfect health except for the poisoning effects. Before the NDE, Erik had been severely depressed and wanted to die but feared death. The experience dramatically transformed his perspective - he no longer fears death but has gained a new desire to live. He feels certain of heaven's existence beyond the light and describes the angels as the most beautiful beings beyond earthly description. The experience convinced him of the reality of the afterlife and strengthened his spiritual beliefs.
