At the age of 15 months in 1981, Reese was left unattended and fell into the family pool. The exact duration underwater remains unknown, but the incident resulted in clinical death requiring CPR for resuscitation. This drowning incident represents a clear life-threatening event with cessation of vital functions in a very young child.
During the experience, Reese encountered a man wearing a long flowing white gown who had distinctive yellow hair (not blonde, but actually yellow) and emanated a glowing presence. Despite initial fear, the man worked to soothe and comfort her, repeatedly telling her she was going to be okay. The communication seemed telepathic rather than verbal, as she never actually heard his voice but understood his message clearly. The being conveyed much more than words, engaging in what felt like a rapid internal debate where Reese tried to convince him why she should stay while he only repeated "You're going to be okay." The entire environment was characterized by extraordinarily bright and beautiful colors unlike anything on Earth, with the man himself glowing with an otherworldly light. She felt overwhelming peace, joy, and elation that she describes as beyond earthly comprehension - every good feeling ever experienced magnified exponentially. Remarkably, despite being only 15 months old, Reese retained vivid memories of this experience. As soon as she could talk, she began describing "the man in the pool," which frightened and confused her parents and grandparents. The emotions and sensations were so powerful that even decades later, she struggles to find adequate words to describe the beauty of the colors and light or the intensity of the peace and love she experienced. The experience left lasting impacts on her life, including complete loss of fear of death and strong belief in an afterlife.
