In August 1977, 10-year-old Darcy L was on vacation in Spain when she developed severe abdominal pain. Initially misdiagnosed as food poisoning, her condition worsened until acute appendicitis turning to peritonitis was diagnosed. With no ambulance available, her father drove her to the hospital. She underwent emergency surgery and woke in intensive care next to a 14-year-old girl who later died. Doctors gave her a 50% chance of survival, with parents alternating sleeping on the floor beside her bed. During her critical period, Darcy saw herself clearly stretched on the hospital bed from the right corner of the ceiling, feeling indifferent about her body. She then found herself in black limitless tunnel, floating toward a small white glow that became bigger. The light was opaque like cotton. She felt immense happiness, joy, and peace while being pulled toward the light. A voice/thought/spirit said "It's not the moment" and repeated "It is not the moment. You still have things to do and to live down there." When asked what people she'd like to see who would need her help, she answered she wanted to see her parents. She turned back but continued being pulled forward, then slowed and returned to her body. This was unpleasant, cold, painful with infernal noise sensitivity. Following days, she looked at the room's right angle, amused knowing she'd been there. A decade later, her father revealed she'd asked him at age twelve "Daddy, for sure you wouldn't abandon us, would you?" preventing him from leaving during his affair. She took 30+ years to share the experience with a scientific colleague. She has no fear of death and feels others' physical and emotional pain deeply.
