At age 10 in 1969, Cindy S went tubing with a friend on a river after early winter thaw. She got caught in a current and went over the Boy Scout Dam, remembering not to panic before taking in water. She then traveled up a tunnel angled at 45 degrees where the light was so white it appeared blue. She arrived in a white room where an unknown entity held her during a life review that included seeing a newspaper report of her death with a clerical error about location. The entity told her it wasn't her time because she had many life lessons to experience. Despite not wanting to return, she was catapulted out of the water 2-3 feet into the air. Her friend had searched frantically "over a hundred times" and ran home for help, finding no one, then returned to continue searching. Cindy was missing for almost an hour underwater. When she forcefully emerged, her friend initially thought she was joking and became angry, scared, and shocked. She gasped, vomited water, and regained composure while two older boys inexplicably pelted them with rocks. Both Cindy and her friend know with certainty she was underwater for almost an hour with no logical explanation for survival. Since the experience, she can feel others' pain in profound ways. She avoids sharing the story as people assume exaggeration or hypoxia, but she assures it was real. The deeply personal emotional experience cannot be adequately conveyed in English. She waited 30 years before first discussing it with a scientific colleague.
