Nine-year-old Noel passed out at school and lost consciousness for an unknown period. Other children pressed on his chest trying to help him, and friends later reported they were worried he had stopped breathing. Instead of simply blacking out, he experienced a unique vision in complete darkness. A sepia-toned photo album appeared and opened before him, showing him images of a boat, a young boy, and a middle-aged man whom he did not recognize. He had no physical form during the experience, existing only as a disembodied observer watching the album turn its own pages. The entire experience was set against pitch-black surroundings with only the photo album visible. He speculates the images might have been of his future self with a son. Upon returning to consciousness, he found himself on the floor surrounded by worried classmates. This remained his most vivid experience even years later, leaving him curious about the afterlife despite his scientific atheist worldview.
