During a summer camp, Paul's older brother was teaching him to swim. After brief practice in shallow water, Paul attempted to swim across the pool but only made it halfway before drowning. He struggled, stuck his hand above water, and lowered his fingers one at a time like in cartoons before letting out his air with relief. Found lying on the pool floor, counselors initially thought he was playing. Upon revival, Paul found himself in a room of extreme brightness - brighter than a personal sun, everything in black and white like shadows. Approximately twelve figures stared at him, then the middle one (whom he believed was Peter) leaned inches from his face and slowly shook his head "No." The bright light slowly faded to white and powder blue as the number of people grew and changed into the circle of children and adults who had revived him.
