In winter 1996 in Gonbade Kavoos, Iran, Arshan experienced a profound NDE following a severe car accident. While driving and not feeling well, he carelessly entered an intersection without properly checking for traffic. A violent collision followed, marked by a loud horn and crashing sound. Instantly, he found himself floating in dark space outside his body, observing the scene as an indifferent observer. He saw his own body lying in the street next to the car from several feet away, initially not recognizing it as himself. He felt no attachment to his physical form, only noting with detachment that he must have died, yet feeling no sadness.
As people rushed toward his body from all directions, Arshan discovered he could comprehend their thoughts and words despite not clearly hearing their voices. He knew what each person was thinking and about to say. When emergency medical personnel arrived from the nearby hospital, they placed him in an ambulance where the team administered injections but received no response. Throughout this, Arshan experienced dual awareness - feeling detached from his body while somehow still connected to it, experiencing no pain despite the trauma. He felt himself rising higher each second, floating like a wave, feeling extraordinarily light. Arshan then entered a gray environment, pursuing a dusty gray light that grew brighter as he approached. The light appeared like illuminated vapor or smoke, formless with colors of blue, orange, yellow, and gold, drawing him with great force. The closer he got, the more joy and peace he experienced. He encountered luminous, transparent beings including deceased relatives who surrounded him to help. His entire life played before him in chronological order like a vivid slideshow where he re-experienced all feelings. A halo of light surrounded him during this review, after which he analyzed his life and felt he had been relatively kind to people. In the operating room, while floating near the ceiling, Arshan observed the medical team's unsuccessful resuscitation attempts. He heard "code pink" shouted and watched multiple defibrillation attempts. On the final attempt, he felt himself getting heavier and being pulled down. When shocked again, his body jumped up and he re-entered it with a jerk through a dark funnel from the head, immediately feeling intense pain. The experience lasted 15-20 minutes, transforming his perspective to value mind and soul over body, developing healing abilities, and enhanced empathy.
