Eight-year-old Leonard developed appendicitis that went undiagnosed for days. His appendix burst before surgery. During the operation under ether anesthesia, he left his body and became aware of his existence as a wispy form tethered to his body by a thread. He saw other spirits moving upward who were not tethered like him. Evil wisps with blinking eyes attacked and tormented him until he called out to God. An angel in white garments appeared, protected him, and placed him in a protective bubble. He was pulled through a tunnel with multicolored lights to a cloud barrier where deceased relatives greeted him, including great-grandparents he'd never met. A woman he calls "Mother" showed him generations of his family and exposed him to a powerful light. He experienced a life review including seeing his birth and an incident where he hurt his brother. Given the choice to stay or return, he chose to return for his living mother. The experience included prophetic dreams of future events like 9/11 and the 2004 tsunami.
