Kurt, age 7, snuck into an apartment complex swimming pool before opening hours. While wading in the shallow end, he accidentally bounced into the deep end and began drowning, sucking water into his lungs. He then experienced floating upward about 60 feet above the pool, seeing his body underwater. He felt content, confident, completely free, and filled with love. He saw a brilliant white light and began turning when suddenly he woke up beside the pool with scratches and wet footprints leading away. An Asian neighbor apparently saved him but left to call for help. Kurt experienced enhanced vision and hearing during the OBE, seeing clearly despite normally needing glasses. The experience left him unafraid of death and believing in an afterlife where souls continue after physical death.
