Wendy had been experiencing abdominal pain for about a week and nearly canceled her doctor's appointment when the pain subsided. An emergency ultrasound revealed a serious problem requiring immediate surgery. After over 7 hours of painful labor that suddenly stopped, an x-ray showed the baby in reverse position. Labor resumed the next evening and she delivered within 30 minutes, but began hemorrhaging profusely from an undetected tumor on her uterus. Her obstetrician declared she needed emergency hysterectomy, and both her Christian doctors were heard praying close to her ears for her to survive.
During her clinical death, Wendy floated out of her body feeling free, peaceful, and without pain. She looked down and saw them performing compressions on her. She floated up through a swirling tunnel toward a brilliant white light brighter than the sun that didn't hurt her eyes. Upon emerging, she was wrapped in a "blanket of love" and met deceased relatives she'd never known but recognized, appearing in human form though she sensed that wasn't their true form. She experienced collective consciousness and connection with everyone. She encountered God as pure energy and wisdom, who told her the message to bring back was "love - we all have to live in love." She then saw an indescribably beautiful meadow in mountains with the bluest sky and greenest grass, where her grandmother who died in 1982 ran toward her with children. They talked for what seemed like hours at a bridge over a creek about Wendy's life since her grandmother's death. Her grandmother appeared vibrant despite dying of a brain tumor, told her she watches over Wendy and her son, then said "You have to go back, it is not your time yet" and that "a blink of an eye could be 80 years" in earth time. Wendy fell back through the tunnel as they continued compressions. She awoke five days later in recovery, developed hepatitis A, and couldn't care for her baby. Her mother later dreamed of Wendy's father saying he helped his grandchild have his mother back.
