In 1976, Steve was struck on the head with a 2x4 hardwood timber board by a drug-addicted neighbor after confronting him about using drugs in front of his children. The blow was fatal and he was pronounced dead at the hospital. During his death, Steve found himself somewhere in the clouds where he encountered his father who had died 20 years earlier. He sensed other deceased loved ones standing further back behind his father. His father walked toward him and said, "Son it's not your time, you'll have to go back." Steve felt wonderful and wanted to stay. Then a powerful, echoing voice said, "He has to go back now." His father faded away and Steve suddenly sat up in his hospital bed, astonishing the medical staff who confirmed he had been dead and they had exhausted all efforts to revive him. The experience convinced Steve that deceased loved ones are waiting on another plane where time has no meaning. He also recounted that in 1988, his deceased mother appeared at the foot of his bed on his birthday at the exact time he was born (2:25 AM on June 2nd), which his sister confirmed. Steve now believes in life after death with certainty, knowing that all who have been loved and lost are waiting. He no longer follows organized religion, believing they are for the earthly realm, while acknowledging a great power exists beyond human comprehension.
