In January 2014, Kristine was hospitalized with what initially seemed like a worsening illness but rapidly deteriorated into life-threatening sepsis and acute atypical bilateral pneumonia. By day three, her oxygen levels had become critically low, necessitating mechanical ventilation. The shocking realization that this meant she was dead hit Kristine hard. Her guide then showed her this new woman who was excellent with the children and genuinely loved them, giving them the attention Kristine had always wanted to provide but couldn't due to work obligations. The experience became increasingly distressing when Kristine witnessed how this woman met and fell in love with her husband. She was then taken to the woman's parents' home where she could interact with the family, though she later became invisible when her husband was about to arrive for an intimate encounter. Overwhelmed with grief and unable to bear witnessing her life continuing without her, Kristine focused on a morphing iridescent rectangle on the wall and began praying desperately to be taken away. She begged her guide to rescue her, refusing to witness any more of her family's life without her. The experience challenged Kristine's Catholic beliefs, particularly about the afterlife's nature. She encountered no traditional religious imagery like pearly gates or winged angels, yet felt certain she had experienced death and an afterlife. The ability to travel instantly, communicate telepathically with her guide, and gain knowledge without words suggested a universal connection. Upon awakening, she initially believed the future she had witnessed was real and struggled to accept she was alive. Her husband later confirmed sensing her presence during her coma, once feeling her hand on his arm. The experience has led to ongoing spiritual transformation and a focus on allowing herself to be loved rather than just giving love.
