Sandra A experienced cardiac arrest during childbirth on May 24, 1977, while on epidural with preceding pyelonephritis (kidney infection). After giving birth, she developed intense chest pains that created general panic among medical staff. She then lost consciousness and experienced clinical death requiring CPR.
