Sam J experienced clinical death in October 2010, spending eighteen hours in a deep coma with no brain wave activity and his heart unable to work on its own. Medical staff informed family that there was no chance of recovery, and with a Living Will in place, the decision was made to turn off life support. Remarkably, after machines were turned off and tubes removed, Sam took one deep breath and regained full consciousness five minutes later, asking if he could go home.
During his NDE, Sam experienced going to what he calls the Center of The Universe, a place he had visited in previous NDEs. He describes existing as pure conscious awareness without physical form, testing energy he had been working to integrate - the marriage of knowledge and logic with love, creativity, and imagination into wisdom. He observed other light bodies of different colors, shapes, and intensities. Creator/God/Great Spirit approached him as a three-dimensional ball of intense golden-white light with a figure in the center and smaller colored energy balls circling around it. Through telepathic communication, he was told "You're going back" and despite exercising his free will to refuse, was struck by a bolt of energy that sent him back. Sam reported no traditional veridical observations but experienced profound spiritual knowledge about the nature of reality without duality, understanding that all energy emanating from the Creator is interconnected. He gained insight that humans are "star seeds" sent to integrate conscious awareness/wisdom into their light bodies. The bolt of energy from the Creator left a lasting impression he can access in meditation. This was not Sam's first NDE - he had been taken off life support previously nine months earlier after seven days in a coma from potassium depletion. He has since become a Medicine Man/Shaman, tested extensively by Great Spirit over five years. He recovered completely from both experiences with no physical or mental ill effects.
