Sally S, approximately age 7 in 1960, underwent tonsil and adenoid removal surgery. Following the procedure, she experienced severe complications with hemorrhaging that required two hospital returns. During her second hospital visit, a blood clot formed that completely blocked her trachea, preventing breathing. While in the pediatric ward with two other girls, she initially felt frightened and in pain, but suddenly the pain ceased and a wonderful sensation of peace flowed through her.
Sally floated out of her body and observed the ward from above. She looked down on each of the two other girls as they slept in their beds. A beautiful voice told her it was not her time, that she had more to do, and prophetically stated she would marry and have a boy and a girl. The voice also warned her life would not be easy but she would never be alone. From her elevated perspective, she watched a nurse enter the ward, check on the two other girls, then suddenly run out when she came to Sally's bedside. The nurse returned with other medical staff who gathered around her bed and began pushing her crib-type bed out of the room and down the hallway. Sally observed specific details including seeing the sleeping girls, the nurse's actions of checking each patient, and the medical team's emergency response of wheeling her bed to another location. A long hose was placed down her throat, at which point she suddenly returned to her body. The voice's prophecy proved accurate - she married Steve Smith in 1974, had a boy in 1976 and a girl in 1980. Following the experience, Sally developed petit-mal seizures that continued until age 17. Her husband was later diagnosed with Carcinoid Syndrome and died in 2002. She reports being able to sense spirits around her since the NDE and no longer fears death.
