On July 11, 1984, Jill entered the hospital for a D&C following a miscarriage. In the recovery room, she began hemorrhaging profusely and bled out, receiving 110 pints of blood and blood products with three surgeries in four hours. During this life-threatening event, she left her body and observed the frantic efforts to save her life, seeing the room packed with doctors and nurses. She tried to communicate but they couldn't hear her. She then entered a tube/tunnel, looking for her legs but not finding them. Halfway through the tunnel, she experienced a complete life review described as someone flipping through a book of all life events, big and small, good and bad. She heard a voice say "Everything's all right." At the tunnel's end, she entered a field of light with colors described as "white but not white, yellow but not yellow" - extremely bright. She saw her deceased father who had died four years earlier, looking as he did after work with suit pants and rolled-up white shirt sleeves. As she drew close enough to smell his cologne and nearly touch him, she felt like a vacuum cleaner pulled her backwards down the tunnel. She awoke in intensive care with four central lines running. Her OB-GYN later confirmed she told him exactly what size sutures he used internally and externally after the third surgery.
