Dr. Jean Renee H, a medical student in July 1977, was hospitalized for Guillain-Barre syndrome workup when she stopped breathing in the Respiratory Department. A neurologist had inadvertently given her 4 times the proper medication dosage. She experienced descending paralysis and respiratory failure, collapsing during a breathing test. She immediately floated 30-40 feet above her body, watching the respiratory technician call a code and ventilate her body below. She felt drawn to an amazing living, loving ball of light in the distance and traveled rapidly toward it by desire alone. Upon entering this light being, she was welcomed by all who resided within it with overwhelming love and complete knowledge. The light and beings knew everything about her. Given a choice to proceed or return, she strongly sensed the souls of her wife and infant daughter near her left breast and felt overwhelming responsibility for their protection. She emphatically told the light "There's no fucking way" she would leave them. The being laughed lovingly and said "Ok." She instantly returned to her body, now in the ICU, awakening with a huge smile. Her first words were "the only thing that's real is love." Her father later shared he had also experienced an NDE at age four. Jean graduated medical school on time despite doctors' advice to delay.
