Haley had been in labor for three days and her body was exhausted beyond any exhaustion she had ever known. After pushing as long as she could, she gave out and became unconscious. During this time, she had an out-of-body experience where she watched everything from above, seeing people walking in and out of a door of light. She found herself standing behind the doctor delivering her daughter and could see the top of her head coming out with blood flowing around it. Several deceased people were present, including her great-great-grandmother, who told her that her baby was a girl (she had been told it was a boy) and that her daughter would have a difficult life and need support. The woman explained that Haley needed to go back to care for her children and get back on track. When a nurse entered and noticed Haley was not moving, the grandmother figure told her to go back and stop scaring the nurse. Haley returned to her body in great pain as the people went back through the door of light. She told the nurse what she was seeing, causing fear in both the nurse and doctor. The doctor hurried to address the bleeding. This was the first of four NDEs Haley has experienced, with the same woman meeting her each time.
