Gabby attempted suicide in 1980 by taking two weeks worth of bipolar medications in one sitting. Her husband was divinely warned to return home from a trip to South Africa. She was hallucinating and a neighbor nurse made her vomit but couldn't keep her awake. At the hospital, she bit nurses trying to insert the stomach pump. When they removed her false teeth to stop the biting, she left her body and watched from above as the doctor said "we are losing her."
She traveled through a tunnel toward a light, experiencing wonderful feelings of love and protection. A voice asked why she had stopped fighting and told her "Don't you know I am still with you?" She was told she had to go back, though she didn't want to. She returned to find her body had voided and felt terrible physically but mentally lucid and elated. The doctor was nearly in tears saying they almost lost her. The experience transformed her completely. She changed from hating God to becoming a spiritualist. She refused to allow abuse, educated herself professionally, became vegetarian, and studies mediumship and past-life regression. She believes she may have had an earlier NDE at 6 months old. The experience gave her knowledge that we are meaningful and important, and that total love exists.
