During a rugby match, Eruera was crushed by approximately 150 kilograms of players, causing respiratory arrest. He was immediately thrust outside his body, observing it writhing in trauma from above. As he rose higher, he became aware of expanded consciousness and profound connection with everything around him. The grass and trees emanated love and were aware of him - he felt complete unity with all of nature. He telepathically said goodbye to his mother before seeing a dark tunnel curving to the left with a light at the end. He began rising joyfully toward the light, knowing he was going "home," when someone yelled to lift his legs to re-inflate his lungs. Despite fighting against return with all his spiritual might, he was pulled back into his body and resumed playing. The experience left him with no fear of death, greatly increased compassion, and understanding that love is the only worthwhile aspect of life to perfect.
