During childbirth complications in May 1957, Mosher C experienced severe bleeding when her uterus would not contract. She was given labor-inducing drugs and rushed to emergency. During this life-threatening hemorrhage, she had an out-of-body experience traveling through a passage of psychedelic lights and sounds. She was met by three beautiful beings in white who informed her they had come to help her cross over. Behind them she saw glorious flowers and green pastures. When she said she could not go, they smiled and said everyone comes there. She insisted she must go back to tell everyone, to which they replied no one would believe her. Upon recovery, a visiting bishop dismissed her experience as drug-induced imagination. The nurses later told her they thought they had lost her due to the severe bleeding.
--- Biblical Summary --- Biblical elements: The experience contains several elements consistent with biblical accounts including passage through a realm (tunnel), encountering heavenly beings (angels), beautiful otherworldly realm (paradise), and being sent back with a purpose. The beings in white align with biblical descriptions of angels or heavenly messengers. The beautiful gardens and pastures echo biblical paradise imagery. Unbiblical elements: The beings' statement that "everybody came there" could suggest universal salvation, though this may have been meant to comfort rather than as theological statement. No explicit mention of God, Jesus, or judgment. The experience lacks specific Christian theological content despite the experiencer later speaking with a bishop.
