A 7-year-old boy experienced a death event in 1973, with no preconception of afterlife, God, or heaven. The specific medical cause is not detailed, though clinical death is mentioned. This experience has replayed in his mind throughout his life, and he still struggles to share it even at age 50.
During the experience, he found himself floating near the ceiling in darkness, looking down but seeing no body - as if invisible. Most remarkably, he encountered his deceased great-grandmother along with many other women from his ancestry whom he didn't know by sight, but who all knew him and cared about what was happening to him. His grandmother was alive at the time, yet appeared in this experience. The communication occurred without language, through a form of understanding that transcended words. He experienced no normal sensory input - no vision or hearing as typically understood, yet could recognize individuals and understand them perfectly in the blackness. Initially feeling lost and uncomfortable, when these ancestral beings found him or realized he was there, he felt comforted. He experienced blissful happiness similar to childhood joy, incredible peace and pleasantness, and felt no longer in conflict with nature. His thoughts moved incredibly fast, and everything seemed to happen at once with time losing all meaning. He suddenly understood everything about himself and others, feeling others' intentions with complete transparency. He gained knowledge that "God exists, man made God, we are watched over by our ancestors" and understood he had a special purpose that he could never fully know because he must live it. The beings told him he would have children in his future and that "we are here for each other." When asked about returning, the ancestral women indicated he had to go back. He has had recurring experiences of hearing deceased loved ones when they pass over. The experience left him with deep compassion for others, complete absence of fear regarding death, and the understanding that our minds and essence of being exist after physical life ends.
