During hospital dialysis treatment in 1992, Megan was told to have six kilos removed despite feeling already dry. Thirty minutes into treatment while eating lunch, she began passing out and called for the nurse. Her heart stopped, leaving her clinically dead for less than a minute according to nurses.
She instantly found herself in a garden with the most incredible array of brilliantly colored flowers. There she met her deceased mother and another unrecognized male figure. She experienced warmth, peace, and timelessness comparable only to a previous meditation experience. Though nurses said she was out for less than a minute, time felt illusory during the experience. Upon return, she desperately wanted to go back to that peaceful place. The experience included seeing specific beings (deceased mother) and a vivid otherworldly garden environment during cardiac arrest. Medical staff confirmed the cardiac event and successful resuscitation.
