In 1983/1984, D was at a municipal swimming pool when he made a wrong movement jumping from a 3-meter diving board, landing flat on his belly and chest. The violent shock cut his respiration completely and he couldn't breathe as he grabbed the pool rim, crawling toward friends who were laughing. Suddenly he was seeing from another angle, watching himself on the ground while floating above his body. He felt no pain and floated in the wind going faster and higher with a feeling of well-being. Looking down, he had a global wide-angle view of the swimming pool, public gardens, stadium, streets, and house roofs from an impossible angle. He saw people's alarm on the ground while floating above them, noting he wore a red swimsuit that summer. He had no notion of time passing. Then in a split second, he was caught and sucked back toward his body as air entered his lungs and pain returned. When he immediately told friends what happened, they laughed and said "What nonsense!" calling it impossible. The experience remains unchanged in his memory decades later.
