On New Year's Eve 1983, Charles was intoxicated with friends when driven home by an equally drunk friend. The car struck multiple parked cars and crashed into a stop sign with great force, tossing Charles around like a rag-doll. His mind began floating in space above the car wreck, watching a policewoman trying to communicate with him. He thought it was a strange dream and was amazed at how patient the officer was with the drunken passenger, not realizing it was himself. He entered darkness with a loud buzzing sound like a train, walking through a tunnel with someone who took his hand. The being was tall with fluorescent light appearance, deep sea-blue eyes, white robe with blue sash, and long braided ponytail. Charles felt shame viewing the accident scene where he repeatedly denied being drunk. The being showed only complete love and bliss. Charles saw wounds in the being's palms and on his back, recognizing this as Jesus who said there were evil people in the world. They entered a vibrant garden with multicolored flowers before returning to darkness. The being raised his hands bringing bright light, and Charles saw another being on a chariot in clouds. Charles was told to make peace on earth as he couldn't stay yet. He returned to find Officer B had driven him home, confirming it was no dream. Charles witnessed everything including his friend being taken to the hospital with a concussion, though he himself wasn't hospitalized.
