During carnival season 1982-83, young Monika stayed home while her parents attended festivities. Watching Dallas, she was influenced by Sue-Ellen's alcoholic character saying she needed to drink to bear terrible things. Missing her mother despite abuse from her mother's boyfriend for years, Monika drank 80% rum and unknowingly took 10-15 different medications. Her parents found her in vomit and called emergency services. From a corner of the emergency ward, she observed herself fully conscious from above, watching doctors pumping her stomach in a bathtub, calling her name and slapping her cheeks. She found it somewhat funny and felt unbelievably well in her elevated position. A familiar presence behind her covered her with love and security like a protective coat. Through wordless telepathic communication, she expressed wanting to stay in this beautiful, pain-free state. The presence made her understand she had to return as her time wasn't ripe and she had much to do. After awakening, she told the nurse she had watched from the ceiling and apologized for vomiting on his pants and shoes, which astonished him as she shouldn't have known. A psychiatrist tried convincing her it was a dream, but she insisted her mind had never been clearer. She later developed premonitory dreams about deaths.
