At seventeen, Micella was ill and in physical pain when she passed out for the first time in her life, remaining unconscious for approximately twenty minutes. During this extended syncope, she experienced an amazingly peaceful dream-like state where she found herself in a field of tall grass with a young child of uncertain gender, aged 5-10 years. They were playing together in this pastoral scene of extraordinary peace. The child repeatedly encouraged her to stay longer whenever she insisted she had to go back, though the being was not upset by her protests. She felt an overwhelming sense of peace and knew intuitively that she had to return because it was not her time or she had unfinished business. Upon hearing her name being called, she regained consciousness surrounded by concerned people. Taking a deep breath, she felt frustrated at being pulled from that peaceful place. She recovered to normal awareness within minutes. Despite multiple syncopal events since, she has never had a similar experience, suggesting this was unique to that particular medical crisis.
