After his husband's suicide, Brandon attempted to follow him a month later through an overdose of alcohol and pills. His roommate found him collapsed, foaming at the mouth and convulsing. According to reports, his breathing and heart had stopped, requiring intubation and chest compressions. Brandon saw the top of the ambulance before everything went black. He found himself in peaceful darkness for the first time since his husband's death, feeling love and a type of non-caring. Something wrapped its love around him, possibly his husband's presence. He acknowledged being alive but didn't remember the suicide attempt. Despite the overdose, he was no longer drunk and everything was focused. He felt he had been there before. He was jolted back into his body and woke extremely angry that he had survived. The experience gave him a feeling of being part of a bigger picture and knowing he wasn't finished with his time here. He lost all desire to take his life and developed extreme compassion, though he still struggles with PTSD and feeling like he doesn't belong here anymore.
