During recovery from cancer surgery, Blaine was lying in his hospital bed when he began feeling shaky and weak. He asked his mother if he was going to die, and she said no. He then heard a strange mechanical whooshing sound before experiencing a respiratory arrest that triggered a code blue. During this clinical death, Blaine found himself in what seemed like a control room filled with many people who were all focused on him. A female being rushed in and told a male being that it was not right and not his time. Two female beings he calls angels sat beside him, smiling at him with the loving expression a mother gives an infant. When he asked what was happening, they telepathically communicated that he wouldn't be able to understand but should not be afraid. After the discussion about his time not being right, he was sent back to his body. He gradually woke to see the room full of doctors working on him and his mother crying. Despite this experience, he remains very afraid of death as he faces terminal cancer.
