In 1995, Maryann was choked to death by her ex-husband when she refused to give him drug money. She was unaware she had been choked until revived. During the experience, she saw herself on the bed while a man stood behind her. She asked who he was and he replied it wasn't her time, she had to go back, she had things to do. He said he would help her now that she could see him and his name was Justin. When she revived and asked her ex where the man went, he insisted no one was there. Justin later appeared multiple times with prophetic messages. He correctly predicted her husband John would leave and her daughter would go to jail, both of which happened. He told her she needed to be there when the world ended. In one instance, he urgently told her to go home immediately as her granddaughter would be hit by a car but be okay - the phone rang with exactly that news. She discovered Justin had been helping her since at least 1981 when she unknowingly called her sister to warn about her son's crib before the roof collapsed on it. She now fights to stay and not go with Justin.
