Béatrice experienced anaphylactic shock from an oyster allergy while visiting friends in Marseille. She had never eaten oysters before but politely consumed twelve of them. Twenty minutes later, she developed severe symptoms including difficulty breathing, red spots, and extreme swelling that broke her ivory bracelet. During the drive back to Aix-en-Provence, she lost consciousness at the building entrance.
During her unconscious state, she experienced complete well-being and told her mother to "let me die" without fear. She found herself approximately three meters above her body, observing the scene as a detached observer. She watched her mother shaking her in panic while feeling no stress herself. The out-of-body perspective was characterized by a sense of invincibility and lightness, as if floating on a cloud but better. She clearly observed her mother's actions from above, hearing everything her mother said despite the distance. The experience felt absolutely certain and indisputable to her. She was in a state of total clarity where the experience seemed like an obvious fact that could not be questioned. Upon returning to her body, she was taken to emergency where she was shocked multiple times with blood pressure down to 4. Doctors confirmed she nearly died from the anaphylactic shock. The experience profoundly changed her perspective on death, reducing her fear significantly.
