During a marital crisis in 1976, Micki attempted suicide by overdose after praying for forgiveness. She experienced a profound out-of-body experience, floating above her bed and observing her lifeless body. She was pulled through a vast tunnel toward brilliant light, arriving at a Victorian gate covered with enormous, brilliantly colored flowers.
She encountered Jesus Christ, seeing nail wounds in his wrists, and fell at his feet crying. Jesus stood at the right hand of God's throne, which emanated brilliant light. God would not speak to her directly - Jesus served as mediator, communicating her love to God. God then spoke to her mentally, expressing his love and telling her to return because children would be born to her (doctors had previously said she couldn't have children). The moment God mentioned children, she became earthly-minded and returned to her body, re-entering through her head. She awoke to find her husband praying. The experience included multiple specific observations: her body position on the bed, the Victorian gate details, Jesus's nail wounds in the wrists (not hands), the throne's brilliant light, and telepathic communication.
