Maria was 9 years old at an open-air pool in August 1973. She slipped on wet stone plates while running, fell and hit her head, losing consciousness. She suddenly started to fly and wanted to fly over the wood towards a grain field she loved. She thought it was a dream but had never flown in dreams before or after this event. The experience felt more clear and real than a dream, with everything appearing even more summery than usual. She was disappointed and angry when pulled away from the amazing flight. The pool attendant carried her to the emergency room where she woke up on a stretcher when asked for her phone number, speaking very slowly. She believes this was an out-of-body experience since the flight immediately followed the fall and she never flies in dreams.
