Maggie experienced post-surgery hemorrhaging in 1980 and had a clinical death. She awakened lying in a pool of blood with medical staff very busy around her, feeling detached from all events. She separated from her body and observed herself lying on the bed and all the activity in the room, feeling no pain or distress. Everything seemed okay even though things were not okay. Years later, she began having strange experiences including excessive reading about the spirit world, trying to connect with others in the New Age movement, and studying in Arcane Schools. As a psychiatric nurse clinician, it took years to integrate this new energy and balance the traditional with non-traditional approaches. The experience fundamentally changed her worldview and spiritual understanding.
