Alba experienced severe blood loss during a miscarriage and surgery in 1984. While unconscious in recovery, she had an out-of-body experience where she observed her body on the bed with a nurse trying to wake her. She saw the hospital activity as if there were no ceiling and watched staff running to get help. During the experience, she felt wonderfully warm and peaceful, floating on something like cotton in bright light. She felt completely at peace and didn't think about anyone, including her young children. When she returned to consciousness, she found herself back in her room with medical staff who confirmed she had been unresponsive for an extended period. The experience transformed her beliefs, leading her to believe in God and develop psychic abilities where she became a messenger for others' health issues.
