Sue was an avid mountain biker hit by a car while road cycling. She was struck head-on, flipped into the windshield, and thrown to the ground. During the 2.5 hours she was unconscious, she experienced sitting in a green cornfield with a man she couldn't fully see but felt very close to. They had peaceful conversation while looking at the damaged car in the intersection. Her bike gear was neatly placed beside her. The field smelled of fresh cut grass and was very pleasant. Years later, she met the paramedic who confirmed he said "someone up there loves her very much" during transport. After extensive injuries including torn ACL, Achilles, and rotator cuff plus brain injury requiring years of therapy, she learned through spiritual counseling that the man with her was her former love who had died in a drunk driving accident 30 years earlier. He had been holding her hand through the hospital procedures, and angels had held her back by the hips during impact, which explained her lasting hip pain. The experience eliminated her fear of death and led to major life changes including retiring early to enjoy life.
