Sharon had been experiencing progressive shortness of breath over several months. After being sent home with just an expectorant, her condition worsened until she collapsed at home. Paramedics were called, and she stopped breathing multiple times - first at home, then in the ambulance, and again in the emergency room. During her first episode, she found herself flying rapidly over a beautiful green valley surrounded by high mountains, experiencing complete freedom of movement. In her subsequent episodes, she appeared at a large doorway with brilliant light emanating from within. She could see the tops of heads and waving arms of many people inside but could not see their faces clearly. Behind and beside her was complete black darkness, creating a void that she was acutely aware of. She felt overwhelming emotions of joy, wonder, excitement, and complete contentment. She was cocooned in safety throughout the experience and never felt alone. When she returned to her body after being resuscitated, she told the medic she had never felt so good in years. The experience removed her fear of death and strengthened her religious faith significantly.
