While riding his bike to work in Sicily, the experiencer was hit by a car and knocked unconscious for 4 hours. After being hit, he saw an old man in robes with a walking stick who needed help. He helped the man walk to sit under a tree in green grass, though the actual accident location was a barren crop field with brown dirt and no trees. He then turned and observed people loading someone into an ambulance, saying he needed to help "those retards get that guy into the ambulance." He realized the person being loaded was himself. He remembers bouncing in the ambulance as it started driving, then falling back into his body. He woke up in a Sicilian hospital. The experience involved an out-of-body observation of his own rescue and an encounter with a mysterious robed figure in a transformed landscape.
