At age four, Sarah was at a swimming pool with her parents and baby brother on a rainy day. Fascinated by divers performing tricks from the big diving board, she asked permission to watch closer, promising to stay at the pool's edge. However, the desire to imitate the divers overcame her reason, and she attempted a dive from the edge of the big pool. Unable to swim, she sank to the bottom in what seemed like an endless descent, watching the surface move away until her eyes finally closed from lack of oxygen.
After some moments, a light Being extended his hand to her while she was still at the bottom of the water. She couldn't see his face or body clearly but was bathed in warm, joyful light filled with love. This Being lifted her out of her body, and together they rose above the pool, hovering on what felt like a landing. Above them was a tunnel leading to increasingly intense light that she saw as warm, full of joy, relief, happiness, and love. Below, the swimming pool appeared dark, cold, and noisy. She watched with total indifference as her mother ran along the poolside, located her at the bottom, dove in to retrieve her, then screamed for the lifeguard who performed CPR. The most remarkable aspect was her complete detachment while hovering with the Being of light, feeling only the warm love surrounding her versus the cold, dark, painful real world below. She clearly observed the mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and cardiac massage being alternated several times. She saw her helpless, crying mother and the lifeguard working to revive her. The Being of light still held her hand throughout these observations. She wanted desperately to go through the tunnel toward the intensifying light, but the Being released her hand and left through the tunnel himself. The Being communicated non-verbally that it wasn't her time and she was still needed on Earth. She felt rejected and was given no choice about returning. As the Being and the warm light disappeared slowly, she watched helplessly before returning to the cold real world and reopening her eyes. Her mother later confirmed all details of the rescue when Sarah asked years later, having hidden the drowning incident out of shame.
