During labor in June 2008, Sandi experienced intense pain unlike anything she had felt before, worse than her previous deliveries without epidural. Despite nurses dismissing her concerns as normal labor pain, she knew something was seriously wrong. Her uterus had ruptured internally, causing severe hemorrhaging. Her blood pressure dropped dangerously low, she became feverish, and she began losing consciousness. The medical emergency required immediate surgical intervention to save both her and her baby's life.
As she lost consciousness in the operating room, Sandi found herself hovering above her body, observing the frantic medical team working below. She watched doctors and nurses yelling instructions and saw her husband looking terrified. Then suddenly she was transported to another realm - a white dimension or void where everything was white, though not a bright light. In this space, she encountered a tall man in a suit with a beard who reminded her of Abraham Lincoln. They communicated telepathically without speaking words. When she asked where she was, he simply stared through her without answering. Sandi became desperate to return when she realized her baby was missing. She remembers grabbing at her belly and asking where her son was, suddenly knowing she had given birth to a son. The bearded man told her not to worry, and then she suddenly came to in her hospital bed. She experienced a mixture of emotions - initial peace in the white realm, but then distress about being separated from her newborn son. After waking from the experience eight days later, everyone was asking if she was okay. All she wanted was to hold her baby. The man she encountered seemed to be some kind of messenger, and she felt he conveyed that it was not yet her time. The experience left her with increased spiritual importance in her life and reduced fear of death.
