Miles was hiking with a heavy pack when severe weather closed in with visibility under six feet, high winds, and driving rain. Lost and exhausted on a mountain saddle with sheer drops all around, she sought shelter and began experiencing severe hypothermia. She lost feeling in extremities, shivered violently then stopped, passed in and out of consciousness with hallucinations, and prayed intensely. Suddenly she had no physical sensations and the cold stress ended. She experienced overwhelming positive emotions impossible to describe - peace, joy, love. She was in an extremely bright white environment and saw a man in his thirties, about 5'10", in a robe with arms outstretched, smiling and radiating peace and love. Behind him stood a solid cross taller than him. She had no body but "just was." When asked if entering heaven, she said yes. She saw Jesus Christ who read her entire life from a file, asking if she agreed she'd done these things - appearing like a video with no way to deny it. He said "I want you to go back to earth. There is something I want you to do." She refused but He convinced her. She asked to see heaven first and saw angels singing with voices more vibrant than instruments. She cried when invisible power prevented her from joining them. Jesus showed her out and she descended. Miraculously, daylight came much faster than expected, mist cleared, and she found the route was only feet away. She had sudden strength to walk miles for help. Rescuers were amazed she survived. She later changed careers to study spirituality's effects in wild places.
